European Junior Ryder Cup Race – Only 3 Qualifying Events Remain

04 Jul 2025

The race to qualify for the 2025 European Junior Ryder Cup team is reaching its final stages, with just three qualifying events remaining for both boys and girls.

The latest events to contribute to the automatic selection process for Stephen Gallacher’s European squad were the European Amateur Championship at Vasatorps Golfklubb in Sweden and the Flogas Irish Women’s Amateur Open in Ireland.

Six players will secure automatic places on the 12-player European team—which will face off against the USA this September—through a season-long ranking system managed by the European Golf Association.

Boys’ Ranking: Le Goff Leads, Grinberg Rises

After scoring just over ten points across the two most recent qualifying events, Hugo Le Goff (FRA) maintains his lead in the boys’ ranking. The 16-year-old Frenchman claimed a notable win earlier this year at the prestigious Lytham Trophy in England and has shown consistently strong form ever since.

Lev Grinberg (UKR) has surged into second place following impressive performances at both The Amateur Championship and the European Amateur Championship. The young Ukrainian remains in contention for a consecutive appearance on Team Europe.

Another French contender, Callixte Alzas, continues his strong campaign. Having earned points in every qualifying event except the European Amateur Championship (which he did not play), Alzas remains firmly in the hunt for a spot on the team as the season nears its close.

Despite these strong showings, the boys’ leaderboard remains tightly contested, and plenty of movement is expected in the coming weeks as players add more scores to their rankings.

Girls’ Ranking: Landgraf Takes the Lead

On the girls’ side, Louise Uma Landgraf (FRA) now sits atop the rankings following her victory at last month’s Flogas Irish Women’s Amateur Open, the most recent qualifying event. She also recently contributed to the winning Junior Vagliano Trophy team in the Netherlands, further strengthening her claim for selection.

The battle for second and third is razor-thin. Charlotte Naughton (ENG), who claimed victory at the German Girls Open earlier this year, holds a narrow edge over Nagore Martinez (ESP). The Spanish player’s most recent counting result was an impressive 8th-place finish at the Annika Invitational.

Final Stretch: July Brings Major Opportunities

The month of July will be decisive, featuring several major events that offer significant ranking points. These include the European Team Championships (for both boys and girls), the English Boys U18 Championship, and the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship—all of which are considered among the strongest events in global amateur golf.
