England has won the European Team Championship for Golfers with Disability.

The biennial event, organised with the support of EDGA, was contested by eight teams at Genova Sant'Anna Golf Club in Italy this week, held in parallel with the European Nations' Cup for Golfers with Disability.

England secured a wire-to-wire victory in the four-player team event, opening with rounds of 72 (+1) and 73 (+2) in the greensomes to take the early lead over the Netherlands.

They widened the advantage on Friday with rounds of 75 (+4) and 80 (+9) in the foursomes format, taking a seven-shot lead into the final day's greensomes.

A steady performance on Saturday, with closing scores of 73 (+2) and 74 (+3) and a total of +21, secured England their first title in the seventh edition of the European Team Championship for Golfers with Disability.

The Netherlands finished four strokes behind to take the silver medals, while defending champions France rounded out the podium on +35.

RESULTS

In the European Nations' Cup for Golfers with Disability, contested in a net stableford format, England also claimed the gold medals after a dramatic final day saw the top three teams finish within two points of each other. Ireland claimed the silver medals, while Italy took the bronze.
