2010 USGA Course Rating Calibration Seminar - Cancelled

The European USGA Calibration Seminar has been cancelled

Sadly the HCRC have to announce the cancellation of the European USGA Calibration Seminar owing to the continuing air traffic closures.
While this morning in some parts of Europe airlines were beginning to resume operations the situation in GB&I was not improving at all and predictions are for continued disruption of air traffic in that area.

As almost all participants from the continent cannot get to Wales we believe we will not have sufficient quorum to proceed with the seminar. In order to enable timely cancellation of the hotel reservations, this announcement is made today at 13.00

The HCRC would like to thank all who have dedicated time and effort to prepare for this important event. After consultation with the USGA and Celtic Manor we will communicate with the federations about the follow up.

News 19 April 2010
Information for the participants of the European USGA Calibration Seminar
The organising members of the HCRC are anxiously following the news releases about the possibilities for air travel now restricted because of the Icelandic ash cloud.

Sunday night April 25 some reports indicated that air travel might be resumed on a limited basis, that made us decide to wait another 24 hours before taking any measures. We may have to work with restricted USGA staff support, but that is feasible.

Attendance is scheduled for 90 people (27 from GB&I) excluding master raters and committee members. As most attendees will have planned to travel on Thursday 22 or Friday 23 of April we plan to make the final go no-go decision on Wednesday 21 April noon at the latest. Assuming that most participants from GB&I can get to Wales by train or car we depend on the continental participants able and willing to come by other means if air travel is still not possible. It is planned to contact the major countries in the course of Monday and Tuesday to assess the situation. If you have already made alternative travel arrangements please mail the EGA office in Lausanne and Malcolm Gourd.
