A record 43 of the EGA’s 49 member countries will be represented across the 2026 European Team Championships, highlighting the continued growth of amateur golf across the continent.
In total, more than 1,100 players representing 236 teams are currently registered for EGA team events, as well as the European Young Masters. Across 12 events coordinated by the EGA and its member federations from July to September, 17 team trophies will be contested.
Following the closing of entries earlier this week, several records were broken. Entries for the European Mid-Amateur Team Championships (33 teams across men’s and ladies’ events) and the European Ladies’ Team Championship (22 teams) are the highest ever recorded, while 15 teams have entered the inaugural European Senior Team Championship Division 2 event.
Although primarily an individual championship, the European Young Masters (included in the figures above) will also feature a strong international field, with 31 countries set to compete in the U16 event, which includes a team classification – the Nations’ Cup.
The EGA’s championship season will begin with the European Mid-Amateur Championships in early June. Entries have recently closed, with a full field of 144 players set to compete at Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club in Portugal.
Entries to the EGA’s remaining individual championships will close soon:
-
European Seniors’ Championship – Entry deadline: 4 May (17:00 CET)
-
European Amateur Championship – Entry deadline: 18 May (12:00 CET)
-
European Ladies’ Amateur Championship – Entry deadline: 10 June (17:00 CET)
The team championship season begins with European Team Championship ‘week’ in early July, when the Men’s, Ladies’, Boys’, Girls’ and Male Division 2 events are contested simultaneously across Europe.
The European Team Championship for Golfers with Disability follows in mid-July, before the European Team Shield Championship for small and emerging golfing nations takes place later that month.
September will see a busy schedule, with the European Senior Men’s and Ladies’ Team Championships played at the same time as the inaugural Division 2 events in the first week of September.
The third edition of the European Mid-Amateur Team Championships in mid-September will round off the team event season, before the Ladies’ and Men’s Club Trophies bring the EGA championship calendar to a close in October.
