Joaquín Castillo Elected EGA President

22 Nov 2025

Joaquín Castillo has been elected President of the European Golf Association (EGA) at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting in the Netherlands.

Castillo, who served on the EGA Championship Committee for five years before joining the Executive Committee as President-Elect in 2023, becomes the 39th President of the Association.

The Spaniard succeeds Caroline Huyskes (NED), who will continue to serve on the EGA Executive Committee for the next two years as the Immediate Past President.

“It is a great honour and privilege to be elected as the new President of the European Golf Association” said Castillo to the General Assembly following the election. “As I take on this role, I do so with deep gratitude and enthusiasm. The faith you have placed in me is both a privilege and a responsibility—one that I embrace with great excitement.”

The newly elected President brings a wealth of knowledge to the role as a seasoned executive leader with over 30 years’ experience in sports, tourism, and event management across both public and private sectors. Castillo, a member of multiple Spanish national golf teams as both a player and captain in the 70’s and 80’s, was formerly the manager of Club de Campo Villa de Madrid for 10 years and later acted as the General Director for Tourism of the region of Madrid.

Castillo will serve as President and Chair of the association for a two-year term until November 2027.
