Playing conditions proved to be much more pleasant for round two of the European Amateur Championship in Vasatorps Golfklubb. Calmer winds and warmer temperatures resulted in a big reshuffle of the leaderboard, with Sakke Siltala taking the lead in the morning. Making his maiden appearance in the Championship, The Finn carded a 4-under 68, and holds first place at -5.
« I played solid. The biggest thing compared to yesterday is that I didn’t make as many bogeys, Siltala said. Obviously, the conditions were a lot tougher yesterday, so I’m juste happy to finish off a good round today. »
Many players had a shot at joining the leader in the afternoon, but the best of them made it as far as 4 under. Filip Jakubcik from Czech Republic did reach the score of minus 5, but had to drop a shot on his last hole, still carding a 69. He shares second place with Denmark’s Kristian Bressum, who shot an impressive bogey-free 7-under 65 at the end of the day, also coming close to sharing the lead with Siltala.
