Blake Windred Leads European Amateur Championship After Day 2

Blake Windred leads the European Amateur Championship at the halfway stage. The Australian carded a second consecutive round of 69 (-3) on day two to climb to the top of the leader board with a six-under-par total.

Windred will be hoping to become the first Australian player to win the event since 1988, when David Ecob lifted the Trophy in its second ever edition.

Perry Cohen, the leader after round one, is one shot back on five-under-par. The Swiss player shot level-par today to keep himself strongly in contention.

Nicolai Hojgaard, Denmark, sits tied for third place on four-under-par with Alexander Herrmann, who made two eagles in the first round, one of which was an ace.

Giovanni Tadiotto shot the lowest score of the tournament this morning, a six-under-par 66 featuring seven birdies. The Belgian climbed 83 spots up the leaderboard after improving on his first round score by 14 strokes. 

The top 60 players plus ties will make the 54-hole cut after round three tomorrow. 65 players currently stand on two-over-par or better.
