The final day of the 2025 European Amateur & Boys’ Division 2 Championships in Hungary featured the best weather of the week. With no wind, bright sunshine, and a course in perfect condition with fast greens, conditions were ideal for one last day of match play.
In the Amateur division, Wales and Belgium faced off for first place. After the morning foursomes, the teams were tied with one point each. The afternoon singles were closely contested, but in the end, Belgium secured the decisive point on the 19th hole to claim the title 4-3. No worries for Wales, however, as they also earned promotion to Division 1 for 2026. Both teams will travel to Estonia in 2026.
In the bronze medal match, Scotland and Austria battled for third place. After two matches went to extra holes, Austria came out on top to secure the bronze medals.
In the Boys’ division, Italy faced Spain in the final. Both teams were already promoted to Division 1 but still competed for the gold medal and the trophy. The match came down to the 18th hole, where Italy chipped in for birdie in the penultimate match to win 1UP. The very last match has also been won 1UP by the Italians, and the final score, like the men’s final, was also 4-3.
Although not a European title, the gold medal was Italy’s second of the day after the men’s team claimed the title in Ireland.
In the bronze medal match, Iceland defeated Poland 4.5–2.5. With this victory, Iceland earned promotion to Division 1 and will compete for the Jean-Louis Dupont Trophy alongside Europe’s top teams next year.
The 2026 edition of the Amateur & Boys’ Team Championships, Division 2 will be played in Costa Navarino, Greece, from 7-11 July 2026.
