2024 Open Amateur Series and New AIG Women's Open Amateur Series Announced

Elite amateur players competing in Europe will have an additional chance to qualify for The Open and the AIG Women’s Open this summer.

After its introduction last year, the best performing player across ‘The Open Amateur Series’, a sequence of three elite amateur championships, will gain an exemption into The 152nd Open at Royal Troon from 18-21 July.

The player that receives the most World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points across The St Andrews Links Trophy, The Amateur Championship and the European Amateur Championship this summer will be awarded a spot to compete in the final major championship of the men's season.

The exemption is in addition to the invitations available to the winners of The Amateur and European Amateur Championships.

Irishman Alex Maguire won last year’s inaugural series and played in The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool.

A new exemption category is also now available for women through ‘The AIG Women’s Open Amateur Series’.

The player that receives the most World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) points across The St Rule Trophy, The Women’s Amateur Championship and the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship this summer will be invited to compete in the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews from 22-25 August.
