Nicolai Hojgaard Tees it Up in The 147th Open

Nicolai Hojgaard got his first Open Championship off to a steady start with a one-over-par 72 around Carnoustie.

The 17-year-old secured his exemption into The Open after claiming the European Amateur Championship title at the end of June.

The Danish player claimed a one-shot victory on seven-under-par at Royal Hague Golf & Country Club in the Netherlands to book his place in the 147th Open.

After round one, Hojgaard is tied for the lowest amateur score with Scotsman, Sam Locke.
