Manche and De Grancey Lead European Mid-Amateur Championships After Round 1

The first round of the 2022 European Mid-Amateur Championships has been completed at Golf du Médoc Resort near Bourdeaux in France.

Céline Manche leads the way in the ladies' Championship after 18 holes. The Belgian player started her round with a bogey, and was still over par after eight holes, altough a birdie on the tricky par-4 9th kicked off an excellent finishing stretch of holes which featured five birdies an no bogeys. The 2021 bronze medallist would ultimately sign for a round of 67 (-4).

The 26-year-old Belgian is one of the youngest players in the field, and is taking advantage of last year's reduction in the mid-amateur age limit from 30 to 25.

Two-time champion, Myrte Eikenaar is close behind after a solid opening round of 68 (-3). The Dutch player has won both editions of the European Mid-Amateur Ladies' Championship that she has competed in, and will look to add a third title at Golf du Médoc this week.
