Great Britain & Ireland have won the 2025 St Andrew’s Trophy, after a dominant victory over the Continent of Europe in Madrid.

The visiting side came into the final day with an 8-4 lead, needing just five points to win back the trophy - and the morning foursomes put them within touching distance.

All four matches went to the final hole but GB&I were able to take three wins and a half from those tight contests.

Tyler Weaver and Connor Graham won 2up, before Luke Poulter and Charlie Forster finished with a birdie to claim a half point against Tim Wiedemeyer and Richard Teder.

Stuart Grehan and Eliot Baker won 2&1 against Hugo Le Goff and Alfons Bondesson, before Cameron Adam and Dominic Clemons held on to beat the Danish pair of Bressum and Borregaard.

Another dominant showing in the foursomes meant the away side needed just one and a half points from the nine afternoon singles to win.

Any hopes of an historic comeback by the European side were dashed early on in the afternoon as Tyler Weaver secured a commanding 6&5 win of Filip Jakubcik.

And when Luke Poulter countered his opponents eagle on 18 by chipping in for one of his own he secured a 1up victory, and the trophy was back in the hands of Great Britain and Ireland.

The GB&I team would take the final aftern 5-4 for a clean sweep of all sessions, and a 16.5 to 8.5 victory.
