The European Ladies’ Team Shield Championship, established in 2016, is designed for small and emerging golfing nations of Europe. Countries not competing in the European Ladies’ Team Championship of the same year are eligible.

Approximately 10 teams of four players compete over four days, starting with 18 holes of stroke play qualifying, followed by three days of match play with one foursomes and two singles matches.

The event runs alongside the men's equivalent, the European Men’s Team Shield Championship.
