Baker and Torstensson Pull Clear in EAOM Standings with Copa Sotogrande Wins

21 Apr 2026

The latest round of European Amateur Order of Merit events has seen two new ranking leaders emerge.

An exciting few days of international amateur golf in Europe saw three EAOM-counting events contested in Spain and Scotland last week, with EAOM points and exciting playing opportunities on offer.

European Nations Cup, Copa Sotogrande — Men

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande provided the setting for one of the most impressive individual performances of the early EAOM season. Eliot Baker (ENG) claimed the individual title in commanding fashion, finishing 15-under par and sealing victory with five consecutive birdies on the final day, a stunning closing stretch that turned a tight contest into a three-shot win. The result adds to Baker's growing collection of EAOM points and opens a healthy lead at the top of the men's rankings. It follows a runner-up finish at the Spanish International Amateur Championship in March and underlines his status as the player to beat in this inaugural season. Scott Woltering of the Netherlands finished runner-up, with England's Ben Bolton in third.

Helen Holm Scottish Women's Open, Royal Troon

Grace Bowen produced the biggest win of her career at Royal Troon, claiming a two-shot victory over Ireland's Jessica Ross in the 54-hole stroke play event. Bowen put together rounds of 71, 69 and 71 across the Portland and Old courses to finish five-under par.

Ross led after the opening round, having posted the best score of the day, a two-under 70, in difficult and windy conditions. The reigning European Mid-Amateur champion pushed Bowen all the way to the final hole, closing with the lowest round of the week, a 68. There was a moment of real drama when Ross's approach on the last struck the flagstick, but the ball stayed out, allowing Bowen to seal the title.
