The Royal St. George's GC
Founded in 1887 and intended by its founder, Dr William Laidlaw Purves, to be a rival to St Andrew’s in the South of England, St George’s is consistently ranked amongst the leading courses in the World.
History
The Vagliano Trophy is a biennial golf match between teams from the Continent of Europe and Great Britain & Ireland (GB&I), with teams selected by the EGA and The R&A, respectively. Established in 1931, the competition initially featured GB&I against France but expanded in 1959 to include the entire Continent. 
The event spans two days with foursomes matches in the morning and singles matches in the afternoon. 
Notable former participants from the Continent of Europe include: Linn Grant, Matilda Castren, Céline Boutier, Sophia Popov, Caroline Hedwall, Caroline Masson, Carlota Ciganda, Pernilla Lindberg, Anna Nordqvist, Gwladys Nocera and from the and Great Britain & Ireland, Leona Maguire, Georgia Hall, Bronte Law, Melissa Reid, and Catriona Matthew.
