EGA Hosts Workshop for Sport Directors in Amsterdam

The EGA Sport Directors’ meeting, designed to bring together leading sport delegates from European national golf associations, took place for the first time in several years in Amsterdam on 16 March.

More than 30 representatives from 20 different nations were present at the meeting, which served as a platform for exchanging best practices, discussing challenges and networking.

The assembly discussed several areas of interest for European amateur golf, including junior participation, elite amateur programs, pathways to professional golf, and national training facilities.

The conference also gave the chance for federations to share information and learnings on their recent projects, which included a presentation on female participation by England Golf, and the French Golf Federation presenting their national training centre.

Delegates from other key organisations in European golf were also present, including Head of the Challenge Tour, James Hodges and World Amateur Golf Ranking Manager, Elizabeth Moser. Both gave presentations on the latest developments of their respective organisations.

“It was highly encouraging to see such strong participation from so many countries and witness the constructive discussions." Said EGA General Secretary, Michael Thannhäuser. “One of the EGA’s objectives is to facilitate the relationships between national associations and we intend to provide the platform for similar events in the future.”

During the one-day workshop, the EGA also took the opportunity to update Sport Directors on their latest activities relating to the EGA championship roster.
