EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

New course record set by Viktor Hovland

The leader going into the final day is Norwegian Viktor Hovland, who set a new course record at the Estonian Golf & Country Club with his third round of 63. After two birdies on hole No.2 and No.4, Hovland went on to birdie holes six to eight, ten and eleven and gained two more strokes on the 15th and 18th to complete his flawless scorecard. In total, Hovland has accumulated a score of 13-under-par over the first three days of the Championship.

The 18-year-old Norwegian, who practices four hours a day, said: "I have had two very good days - the first and today. Yesterday, however, was terrible". On the first day Hovland finished five-under-par, followed by an one-over-par on the second day and his record-breaking nine-under-par third round.

63 players made the cut and will contend in today’s final round for the 2016 European Amateur Champion title, the Trophy and a spot in next year’s The Open Championship.

The new European Champion will be crowned at around 17:00.
