EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Four players in the lead after Day 2 of the 2016 European Amateur Championship

After day two of the European Amateur Championship, four players share the lead at seven-under-par: Adrian Meronk from Poland, Englishman Gian-Marco Petrozzi, Thomas Rosenmüller from Germany and Scot Craig Ross.

Estonian Golf and Country Club proved to be a tough challenge in very wet and windy conditions during the second round of the Championship. The Pole Adrian Meronk, world number nine ranked amateur, said: "The wind made it very difficult to play, but the result pleased me nonetheless."
After finishing his round, the East Tennessee State University graduate went straight to the range for some fine tuning before the third round. "For me it’s my normal routine to do what I can, to stay where I need to be," said the Pole.

Scot Ross, who also has a share of the lead, was not sure until the first day of the Championship, if he will be able to compete, due to losing his luggage en route to Estonia. Fortunately for Ross, by the afternoon of the first day, his luggage was found and delivered and thanks to the decision of the Championship Committee he could start.

Fellow Scotsman Robert Mayintyre posted the lowest score of the day, a bogey-free 66.

Day one leader, Jeremy Paul from Germany played one-over-par and consequently dropped to a share of eighth place at -5. However, compatriot Rosenmüller from Munich took over his spot on top of the leaderboard with a second round of 67.

Petrozzi, who was in second place after is bogey-free opening round of 67, followed up with a two-under-par 70, to complete the leading quartette.

After the third round today, the top-60 players plus ties who make the cut will continue tomorrow to contend for the trophy and a spot in next year’s The Open Championship.
