EGA WELCOMES NEW CHAMPIONSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBERS

During the February Committee Meetings held in Lausanne, Switzerland, last week, the EGA welcomed three new members to its Championship Committee.

JR Jones from Wales (The R&A), Jan Rye from Denmark and Rolf Nagel from Germany will join the committee of 12 for the next four years.

All three new members possess a sound knowledge of the game of golf and have extensive international refereeing experience.

JR Jones has previously served on the EGA Technical Committee and will return to the now-called EGA Championship Committee after having served on several committees of The R&A and as Welsh National Team and Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup Selector. His playing record includes multiple national and international titles and five Welsh caps in the European Amateur Team Championship. Together with Jan Rye, Chairman of the Danish Golf Union Tournament and Rules Committee, and Rolf Nagel, member of the German Golf Association’s Rules of Golf and the Rules of Amateur Status Committees, the newly appointed members will prove to be assets to the EGA Championship Committee, which is continually striving to improve the EGA’s championships and international matches.
