EGA commences search for a General Secretary

 
John C. Storjohann, after 25 years as General Secretary of the EGA, is due to retire. Hence, the European Golf Association commences search for a replacement which will be based in Epalinges (Lausanne), Switzerland at the EGA offices. The search will be run by a subcommittee of the Executive Committee.

At present the EGA office is composed of a staff of 4 and represents 39 Federations and over 6 million players.

 
Job Description of General Secretary

Title: General Secretary

Office Location: Epalinges (Lausanne), Switzerland

Job Conditions 
a) Working Hours: It could be a part time or full time job.
b) Specific knowledge: Fluent and literate in English, preferably knowledgeable in 2 additional European languages. Knowledge of golf and experience in golf administration required.            
c) Starting Date: Preferably October 2011

 
Role: 
To lead the EGA in the fulfillment of its objectives, give direction and control the activities of the EGA and represent the Association internationally.

 
Accountability: 
The position will report directly to the Executive Committee which is chaired by the President. He/She will be responsible for the performance, delivery and management of the activities of the EGA in accordance with an agreed Business Plan.

 
Duties: 
•  To oversee the management of the general office, its administration, championship and handicap staff. He/She will be accountable for the day to day operation of the Association ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently.
•   To represent the EGA at International Forums and other golfing organizations.
•   To assist the Executive Committee to identify and develop its goals and be responsible to the committee for their implementation.
•   Together with the Treasurer ensure the Committee is fully informed on the financial condition of the EGA and to prepare itemized budgets.
•   To uphold, safeguard and promote the philosophy and integrity of the Association.

 
Relationships:
•   He/She will promote and develop communications between the EGA and its member Federations and is accountable to the Committee for keeping the Federations fully informed about the EGA’s operations. 
•   He/She will develop and maintain relationships with key organizations such as the R&A,   PGA of Europe, European Community in Brussels.
•   He/She will work with legislators and other regulatory agencies to protect and enhance European Golf.
•   He/She will promote the EGA with national and international media.
