PING Junior Solheim Cup

Venue: Aurora Country Club, Aurora, Illinois, USA
Date: August 18th – 19th 2009
Teams: 12 girls from Europe vs. 12 girls from the United States

 

The PING Junior Solheim Cup was founded by Karsten Manufacturing Corporation, makers of PING equipment, to give junior golfers experience and to prepare them for their future golf careers. The event is always played prior to The Solheim Cup.

 

The PING Junior Solheim Cup is the only girl's team event of its kind at a junior level. The event features teams of 12 players from Europe and the USA , playing a two-day match play competition of six fourballs, six foursomes and 12 singles.

Captain for Team Europe is Carin Koch from Sweden and Captain for Team USA is Nancy Lopez from the US.

 

European Team Selection:

  • 12 participants.
  • Participants must be 12-18 years old (born 1991 and later)
    and must     not have reached their 18th birthday prior to January 1, 2009.
  • Must be a European citizen.
  • Anyone who has graduated high school and is attending college is not eligible to play in the PING Junior Solheim Cup.  
  • Leading six players from the Points Table at July 13th will be automatically

              picked.

  • Captain will pick six players.
  • All other amateur events and the EGA European Amateur Ranking will be taking into consideration when making the Captain’s Pick.
  • European team selection on July 13th.

  1. Spanish International Ladies Amateur Championship,
    Real Club de Golf Las Palmas, Spain, 25 Feb-1 March
  2. French International Lady Juniors Championship,
    Saint-Cloud GC, France, 9-13 April
  3. European Girls’ Team Championship,
    Kokkola GC, Finland, 7-11 July
  4. European Ladies’ Team Championship,
    Bled GC, Slovenia, 7-11 July
