The ladies of the GC St.Leon-Rot won the European Club Trophy 2008 with 442 shots and ten shots in front of their chasers. The best individual female player of the tournament comes from St.Leon-Rot – Sophia Popov, current German girls champion (U16), finished the tournament with rounds of 71, 73, 74. Second place went to Sarah Schober (AUT), who played the best round (70) of the tournament.. Until the last putt on the 18th green Austria and Spain fought for the silver medal. Fanny Wolte (AUT) attacked the green on the par 5-hole and played a birdie, so Maria Orveta (ESP) had to hole her putt to tie the second place by 452 shots. Orveta missed and so the Spanish Ladies of the Real Club Puerta de Hierro won the bronze medal. In case of a tie for the second place Spain would have won the “computer-play-off” probably. It was a fantastic final day with awesome weather and many interested spectators.
