The European Team never caught up after their difficult start on the first day of the match when they only secured 1.5 points with the win of Matteo Manassero/Daisy Nielsen against Andrew Yun/Erynne Lee in the afternoon four-ball and the halved match of Julien Brun/Adrian Otaegui against Cameron Peck/Cory Whitsett in the morning foursomes.

The singles on the second day were all won by the American team with the exception of the halved match performed by Carly Booth against Jennifer Johnson.

The European team was composed of Anna Arrese (SPA), Carly Booth (SCO), Leona Maguire (IRE), Lisa Maguire (IRE), Daisy Nielsen (DEN), Kelly Tidy (ENG) for the girls and Julien Brun (FRA), Stanislas Gautier (FRA), Moritz Lampert (GER), Chris Lloyd (ENG), Matteo Manassero (ITA), Adrian Otaegui (SPA), for the boys under the captaincy of Gerald Stangl (AUT). 

This has been the first defeat of the European Team since the 1997 match won by America 7-5. No doubt Europe will do their best to regain the title in 2010 when the match will be played in Scotland.
