Playing in the European Amateur Team Championship (EATC) Division II qualifier last year in Hungary, the team of Serbia left the golf course trailing by one stroke from outright qualification.
However, after a rare team withdrawal earlier this year, the Serbian team, formally qualified as first reserve, were offered their chance to play in the coveted European Golf Association men’s team event for the first time.
Team Serbia was the first team welcomed yesterday at the opening ceremony in Bad Saarow, Germany, to the applause of the on-looking crowd.
Team Serbia joined the 15 other top European teams this week to contest the EATC at the Faldo-designed course at Sporting Club Berlin.
