Preview: 2023 European Ladies' Club Trophy

The 2023 European Ladies' Club Trophy is set to take place this week in Bulgaria.

16 golf clubs will compete in the event this year, which is conested by the national-champion clubs of EGA member countries.

Each team comprises three players, who will complete three rounds of stroke play over three days. The lowest two scores each day are counted towards the clubs' final totals.

Pravets Golf Club will set the stage for the 48 golfers in the field this week. Located roughly an hour away from Bulgarian capital, Sofia, the par-72 championship course has been a regular host of EGA Championships in recent years. It most recently hosted the European Amateur and Boys' Division 2 Team Championships last year, and will host the European Ladies' Club Trophy for the third time.

Racing Club de France (RCF) La Boulie enter the week as the defending champions. The French club dominated the event in Slovenia last year to earn a record-tying fifth win in the event's history.

German club, St. Leon-Rot held the record of five wins before it was matched by RCF La Boulie, and will have the chance to claim it back this year. The German national champions look strong on paper as always, and will look beat RCF to a record sixth title this week.

Denmark's Smørum Golf Club are the only other team competing to have formerly won the event, most recently winning the title in 2019.

The European Ladies' Club Trophy has formerly been played twice at Pravets Golf Club. RCF La Boulie won their fourth title here in 2016, while Hamburger Golf Club claimed the title in 2018.
