Jakob Kofod Leads European Mid-Amateur Championship after Day 1

Jakob Kofod leads the European Mid-Amateur Championship after day 1 at BlackSeaRama Golf Resort & Villas, Bulgaria. The Danish player shot a bogey-free, four-under-par, round of 68 to take a one-stroke lead over Switzerland's Etienne Wehrli.

Carlos De Corral, who won the event last year, got his defence of the title off to a good start with a two-under-par 70. The Spaniard finds himself tied for third place with 2014 champion, Alexander Koller.

Five players are tied for fifth place on one-under-par. The list includes 2015 champion, and EGA General Secretary, Richard Heath, Nicolas Singer, who claimed silver in 2015, and Henrik Henningsson, who claimed bronze in 2016.

Conditions were very still in the morning, but the wind picked up significantly in the afternoon, making the course a bit more complicated for those with later tee-times.
