Hamburger GC Take the Lead in Bulgaria

Hamburger GC have taken the lead in the European Ladies' Club Trophy after day one.

The German club, attempting to win the trophy for the first time, reached six-under-par in round one at Pravets Golf Club.

Esther Henseleit, who claimed the silver medal at the Euroepan Ladies' Amateur Championship earlier this year, led the way for her team carding a four-under-par 68. Miriam Emmert added to Henseleit's score with a two-under-par round of 70 to give the team a two-stroke advantage.

Lilly Koster, the third player on the Hamburger team, shot the sixth-lowest score of the day, a level-par round of 72, but being the highest of the three team scores, won't count towards the club's total.

Zhen Bontan, attempting to secure the title for a second consecutive year with Dutch club, UGC De Pan, fired the lowest score of the day. The Dutch national ladies' team captain went bogey-free to card a six-under-par 66 and get UGC De Pan's title defence off to a solid start, just four shots behind the leaders.

RNCGSS Basozabal of Spain find themselves in second place on four-under-par after Ane Urchegui Garcia made seven birdies to sign for a five-under-par 67, the second lowest score of the day.
