European Amateur Team Championship

Germany wins the European Amateur Team Championship for the first time!

Germany becomes the new European Amateur Team Champion for the first time in the event's history after a wonderful week of golf at Hilversumsche GC in the Netherlands.


After the Strokeplay qualification, Germany took the lead with an impressive (-14) in front of the home team Netherlands (-6) and Sweden (-2). Matthias SCHMID (GER) carded an exceptional 62 (-10) securing a medal for his team.


After the quarterfinals, four nations were in contention for the medals: Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Italy.


In the semi-finals, Germany brilliantly won against Switzerland (2.5-0.5). Sweden, Austria  and the Netherlands also got a place for the finals on the next day.


Championship Match – Germany vs Sweden (2-1)

The German pair Nick Bachem and Marc Hammer won their foursomes match beating the Swedes David Nyfall and Albin Bergstrom by one hole.

Matthias Schmid secured the trophy by winning his single match 6 & 5 to Gustav Andersson.



Bronze Medal Match – Switzerland vs Ital (2-1)

Switzerland was too strong for Italy in the bronze medal match. Nicola Gerhardsen and Robert Foley won the foursome match and Mauro Gilardi won his single match to Andrea Romano.


Sweden in 2021

Next year’s Championship will be held on 6-10 July at Vasatorp GC in Sweden.
