European Ladies' Mid-Amateur Championship Announced

The EGA Championship Committee has announced the inauguration of a European title for Mid-Amateur women.

The championship will take place for the first time from 6-8 June at St. Laurence Golf, Finland, in conjunction with the Men's event.

The EGA's General Secretary, Richard Heath, said "The EGA Championship Committee’s motivation for introducing a European Ladies’ Mid-Amateur title is to provide an incentive for elite women golfers. While the EGA may have been concerned in the past that the event may not generate enough interest, it has now been inaugurated to inspire the ladies’ mid-amateur age group towards a European title. We are expecting the event to only grow with time and hope that it will eventually attract players from outside of Europe."

The field will be capped at 54 players, with a cut after two rounds for the top 33 and ties.

Participants must be 30 years of age or over as of 0.00 hours on Day 1 of the championship and have a handicap of 6.0 or less at the time of entry.
