England Secure Back-to-Back European Ladies' Team Championship Titles

England have won the 2022 European Ladies' Team Championship title at Conwy Golf Club, Wales.

Then English team faced Italy in a tense championship match on Saturday.

The morning foursomes matches both finished on the 17th hole. One in favour of Anna Zanusso and Alessandra Fanali for Italy, and the other for Caley Mcginty and Lottie Woad in favour of the defending champions.

That left the score at 1-1 heading into the afternoon singles.

Amelia Williamson clinched the first singles point for England in the afternoon with a 3&2 win over Carolina Melgrati.

The Italians quickly responded with a victory of their own. Former Vagliano Trophy player, Alessia Nobilio defeated Caley Mcginty on the 17th. With the score at 2-2, Charlotte Heath was able to take England within just one point of victory with a convincing 4&3 win in the final match against Emilie Alba Paltrinieri.

With Alesandra Fanali winning her match for Italy, it looked like the title would be decided by the match between Lottie Woad and Benedetta Moresco.

A lost ball on the 17th hole for the Italian proved crucial, and allowed Lottie Woad to secure a second-consecutive title for England on the 17th green.

In the bronze medal match, Spain faced Sweden. The Spanish side claimed both of the morning foursomes points. The Swedish team fought back in the afternoon claiming three of the singles matches, but it wouldn't be enough. Wins from Blanca Fernandez Garcia-Poggio and Julia Lopez Ramirez secured the final spot on the podium for the Spanish.
