Celia Barquín Remembered

The 2019 European Ladies' Amateur Championship offered a fitting opportunity to remember Celia Barquín Arozamena, the 2018 European Ladies' Amateur Champion.

The Spanish golfer tragically lost her life in September of last year, less than two months after claiming the European title in Slovakia.

During the Opening Ceremony at Parkstone Golf Club, the President of England Golf, Jenny Clink, dedicated a few words to Celia, and conducted a moment of silence in her honour.

Tribute was also paid towards Celia at the European Girls' Team Championship, held at Parador El Saler Golf Club in her home country earlier this month. Officials from the Spanish federation, alongside the Spanish team, ceremoniously planted a tree in commemoration of the Spanish national team player (pictured below).

A replica of the European Ladies' Amateur Championship trophy will be donated by the European Golf Association to Celia's home club, Santa Marina.
