From January 1, 2005, a European Amateur Ranking has been launched.

As indicated at the beginning of 2006, in 2007 and onwards the format for the European Amateur Men's Ranking will be changed following the introduction of the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) conducted by the R&A.  The calculation method used previously is now defunct and the European Ranking will be an extraction of the European players directly from the WAGR.  Updates will take place weekly.

To be considered, a player must be a citizen of a European country. All other conditions will be inline with those of the WAGR (see "WAGR General Information" link below).

The 2008 winners will be awarded their medals next year at the European Amateur Team Championship at Conwy GC, Wales on the 30 June - 4 July 2009.

A date will be selected annually, which will act as the cut-off date to decide the final positions for that year.  For 2008, the EGA Championship Committee have selected the earliest round of the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 1:  15 September 2009.
