The Ladies European Amateur Rankings (LEAR) for 2010 is now officially released after a trial period.
The LEAR have been updated in the interim and now include over 550 ranked European players. The number of counting events has increased to over 400.
The LEAR will be issued weekly on completion of the previous week’s Counting Events and will rank amateur golfers on the basis of performance in these events.
A Counting Event is a match play, stroke play or a combination event, amateur or professional, with a minimum of two rounds, selected and approved by the Committee to count for LEAR.
Each player is ranked according to her points average, determined by dividing the total number of points by the number of Counting Rounds played (divisor). A minimum divisor of 24 counting rounds is imposed to balance the weighting of "one-off" performances.
To become LEARanked, a golfer must reach the latter stage of a match play Counting Event or finish within those places awarded points in a stroke play Counting Event.
The EGA will award medal prizes to the top three LEARanked players as following the final event on the 2010 season counting events list (below).
